to maintain and promote the awareness of the benefits of Oilheat as compared with other fuels.Serving as a watchdog/clearinghouse, OMA monitors government and legislative actions, distributes information alerts and position papers, and furnishes technical consultation and assistance to government panels, committees, and scientific bodies. In addition, OMA promotes responsible dialogue by responding to, and furnishing accurate information about Oilheat products and services to media outlets.
We also serve as a conduit, interpreting the Oilheat industry to the general public and conveying consumer concerns to the legislative/government sector. Our partnership with other industry associations has produced public awareness/public service campaigns on a wide range of topics such as safety concerns, environmental issues and so on.
Along with other industry representatives, we have developed educational training curricula and industry work standards including the Technician Certification Program, to assure that Service Technicians are professionally trained.
Working within a very modest budget, OMA fulfills this very ambitious program largely through a committee system. Day-to-day activities are managed by Executive Director Bob Hedden, research and technical issues fall under the guidance of John Batey, PE.
